Have mercy on those who attack others’ faiths.
|LORD, HAVE MERCY—A sonnet|
Lord, have mercy on those who, ignorant,
Make fun of others’ beliefs, religion.
Have mercy on those who, when indignant,
Kill others out of hatred, sans reason.
Those who live by the Quran or Bible
Fight oblivious of the basic fact
That each prophet is God’s own disciple
And has tried to keep His glory intact.
Lord give us all Your heavenly wisdom,
So that we may find You in every man;
We may grant everyone basic freedom
To say and write and draw the way he can.
It’s tragic that a difference of thought
Should have the havoc of the world wars brought.
