A lesson learned through overcoming obstacles.
Painted shadows across every closing door-
Such a haunting welcome for such a welcomed war.

The last thing I saw was vultures circling in your eyes,
Window- shopping souls, across moonlit skies.

So much time wasted- pasty and wasted.

I will never forget- and it’s hard to remember-
Sweetness ever tasting so bitter.

Those memories tangle around my tongue.

Almost died so many times- choke it down.
Almost lived so many lives- kind of drowned.

But higher tonight, dancing above the ground,
Out of sight and faint of sound- the only love I ever  found.
