a lyric poem meant for song
Tapping on mirrors,
asking is that really me?
Turn out all the lights
I don’t want to see.

Sometimes we play make believe
other times I pretend.
But Hide & Seek is so boring
without a real friend.

Slept through the darker days
awake/and roaming lonely nights,
Screaming at walls/throwing rocks
and picking fights.

I was breaking halo's
and you were sharpening horns.
I was losing all my roses
you were collecting thorns.

         We learned how to steal…
Then we learned we weren’t real.
         Oh! How our world changed.

I thought I knew it all- at that age, don’t we all
         Oh! How the world changed.

But were so good together
we both pretend and make believe.
And it’s no fun stealing
with our hearts on our sleeves.
You know I don’t like mirrors
so you turn out the lights.
I know that you love thorns
so I bring you roses every night.

We close our eyes then we fall…
But, then again, don’t we all?
         How World’s change.

         I am your thorn
        you are my rose.
         Til’ the end
        however it goes
         Hope that don’t change.
