Thinking about snow, trying a some different forms of poetry
I started working on quilled snowflakes for Christmas hostess gifts. I decided I needed a little something else to go with it. So I wanted a verse or 'something'. This is my brain storming work, trying to figure out what I'm doing....

Nothing like explaining -- work in progress, before you read, huh!

Haiku:

Snow

Ominous gray skies
Reveal crystalline treasures
Dancing silently

Oddquain: An oddquain is a 17 syllable form in five lines.... 1, 3, 5, 7, 1

Snow
Gently drifts
Blanketing the ground
Creating a wonderland
Scene

Candlelight formatted poem:

Candlelight formatted poem
Syllable structure is 5-5-5-4-4-3-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-7
Rhyme scheme is aabbccxxxxxxxxxxxx (x being unrhymed)

Warmed by the fire
The weather’s dire
The snow’s still falling
No point stalling
Coat’s all zipped up
Muffler’s wrapped
Mittens
Wool socks
Snow boots
Dressed!
Cold
White
Snow
Glides
Wafts
Twirling and dancing around

Oddquain Butterfly: a variation of an oddquain, still based upon the syllable count 1, 3, 5, 7, 1, 7, 5, 3, 1
Since you can string oddquains, I decided to string the oddquain butterfly (an oddquain butterfly is what I was thinking about when I did the oddquain.. so I just continued it)

Snow
Gently falls
Blanketing the ground
Creating a wonderland
Where
Children's laughter fills the air
As they toboggan
Down snowy
Slopes

Cold
Fades away
When Mom calls them in,
The scent of hot chocolate
Fills
The air from the kitchen door.
Children bound inside
So much fun!
Snow!

Nonette: A syllabic poetry form that consists of nine lines. The first line has nine syllable, the next eight through to the last line which has one syllable.

Awaken to winter's wonderland
Sparkling crystalline fingers
Overwhelmed by ice and snow
Create glistening archways
Shelter paths below
Harmonious
Natural
Beauty
Glows

Edited Nonet:

Awaken to winter’s wonderland
Sparkling crystalline fingers
Overwhelmed by ice and snow
Create glistening archways
Sheltering paths below
Signals winters
Dazzling
Return
Home

Septolet: I've found two different descriptions of septolet poems. Both must contain seven lines (sept meaning seven). One is based on syllables while the other is base on words.

A septolet syllable form- each line has a specific number of syllables (1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1)
A septolet word form has 14 words, is written in two parts with a break. Both parts work together to create a picture for your imagination.

Blizzard

Squalls
Ferocious winds
Blowing snow

Drifts
Of powder
Mound sky high
Trapped cozily inside.

haiku, again

Skies of Eiderdown
Silently reveal dancing
Crystalline treasures
