Treasures for a young child
Shuffling along the curb
The young girl looks for treasures
in the gutters
of the quiet dirty street

There is no playground, park, or grass

full of weeds, broken glass, and
the vomit of some drunk who
stumbled home last night
through a path of dandelions
and giant billboards

The little girl shuffles on
