Short poem I wrote. Don't know how it turned out, but I'm keeping it!
Colder than the frosty bite of a river up north
It waits in the darkest corners of the young mind
In a world so clearly blinded by the fog of past mistakes
Nobody can see how poisonous this foe will be

Winters always spent hoping to survive another season
And summers pronounced a time of remembrance
Throughout the years of moments so courage draining
The truth of a painful past cannot be forgotten

Just as the wandering boy who takes a step too far
Will be guaranteed to run his dreams completely dry
Time will not let the minds of the desperately sick and lost
Rest in a way that can soothe the soul enough for healing

Yet to live a life truly worth earning a legacy
That not even the venom of a death too soon can wash away
One must have the everlasting strength
To fight off the demons that consume the murkiest of fears
