This is the third volume in the series: The Judge Ment Series
William Ment, a High Court Judge has a dilemma. He is an excellent judge and a recognised lawyer but he has trouble accepting anything at face value.
If something bothers him, then William Ment wants to know why, and he uses unorthodox methods to solve the problems.
This leads to a conflict between his position as judge and his role as amateur detective.
Fortunately, he is not alone and with the help of his friends he always seems to reach the right conclusion, but there is always a cost.
In A Question of Desire he leaves the courtroom to investigate the mysterious death of a friend.
He is obliged to delve into the history of appellants in an appeal, visit a "gentleman's club", go under cover at a game ranch, and track the murderers  to a remote coastal destination.
