Honoring freedom's advocates on Memorial Day, our armed forces men and women - a poem. |
| On this Memorial Day 2013, with so many Discouraging battles and conflicts All over this tattered and turbulent globe, The United States of America and its allies Fondly, and perhaps not so favorably at times, Remembers its past and recent warring debacles With much humility and political fervor. And all of its fallen heroes, Courageous armed forces men and women Who have passed on with much valor, distinction, and pride, Are ceremoniously honored on this special day. Truly befitting their valiant and noble sacrifices Are the heroic and timeless causes For which they fought and persevered, Humanity’s epically sought-after freedom And eternal lasting peace. In the heat of those unwavering battles And that horrific, unruly demise, There appeared to our fallen no lasting upheavals, A testament to their immense courage And their prolific sense of purpose and honor; A resolve that resonates in every corner Of this tumultuous and troubled society In which future service men and women Hope to proudly and dutifully serve. |
