the river

we went to the river today and I memorized every thing

went to the river
the water is freezing
my kids said
I only like hot springs
like the one I have seen
monkeys bath in
with their cute
little red faces
the river is icy
because it’s from
the melting snow
from the mountains
the water is a lovely lightest
greenish blue
with a man made beach
where we perch
my sister in-law drinks,
my friend talks,
and I read.
the older kids swing
from this tree
with a rope hanging
loosely.
back and forth the kids drop
front drops and back
we laugh
I love the sound
of the currant
forcing water into
roaring rapids
I could sleep to
that sound
in my walkman
yes, I still have a walkman
technology isn’t my thing
