An attempt to write a structured poem.
Near some backyard in Smalltownville,
A hot dog is eaten, garnished with dill.
The banners are hung with pride today.
I'm an American, I'm proud to say!
Strike up the band, fire up the grill!

The fireworks will shoot off of yonder hill,
From up behind the old grist mill,
Right after the children's Freedom Play.
Near some backyard in Smalltownville.

The town will be extremely still,
Listening to "America" played by Bill.
Giving great respect to the Green Beret,
Who earned several medals along his way,
As he ignores the fanfare and the frill.
Near some backyard in Smalltownville.
