What country means |
| Have you ever been called “country”, Or how about just “cowboy”? Did you think it was peasantry, Or was your heart filled with joy? To be country or a cowboy, Takes a special kind of man. A john Deere tractor’s his first toy, And a saddle his divan. He wakes ‘fore the dawn is breakin’, Every day, all the yearlong. Tries to give a fair accountin’, And not do any man wrong Love of family, God, and country, Are this man’s driving forces. Handed down from his ancestry, As is his love of horses. The country boy’s a gentleman, And a scholar when he tries. Shows respect for his fellow man, Tells “tall tales” but never lies. He works the land as he knows best, Whether the boss or a hand. Living by “the Code of the West”, Everyday “ride for the brand”. Finally his time draws to an end, His steps short, friends aplenty. Never had a need to pretend, Cowboy heaven a certainty. If you've known such a gentleman, And these facts you plainly see. You will do whatever you can, To hear friends call “Hey Country” |
