A man who loses his wife to suicide

Empty

Here he sits, alone in the dark;
Gazing out the window, blank, in a stare.
One year ago, this day will mark

He taps his fingers in a nervous fashion
Wondering how his life will go on
Loathing life without any passion

He only hears her whisper his name
So faint, so sad, she has taken her life
He hangs his head, in troublesome blame

If he'd known that she was sad and ill
And had not pretended all was well
He could have saved her, to love her still

But her listless body just fell asleep,
In his arms, with a gentle smile on her face
It was her saddened soul that made him weep.

Time will linger with so much to bare
Life was evil and so unfair.
