A Salute to the Brave Men and Women who fought in WWII A Quatrain Rhyme scheme aabb
They signed up in '44,
to fight the enemy of war.
In trenches, ships, and in air
what they saw was not fair!

Many saw their friends killed,
prophecies of youth unfulfilled.
Returning home to parades
still fearful of past air raids.

Now so many have passed away,
so many years after the fray.
A Memorial in DC exists
but at their age many resist.

That is where Honor Flight comes in
and here is where we all can win!
Sending these warriors to see their glory
before the ending of their story.

That is why I have volunteered
when such a need had appeared.
It is so little for me to sacrifice
for those who saved our way of life!
