Letting go

is when you never knew the air
could taste this clear
or the sky could look so blue
or you could feel so light
so small and yet
so infinite

its in a moment
when you exhale,
and the world around you has never looked so beautiful
and you're lost but in that second
you know you're exactly where
you're supposed to be

its hearing that song
and the lyrics seem to say
everything you never spoke,
and it plays in your bloodstream
and it builds in your heart
raising goosebumps on your skin despite
the warmth of the day

its in that memory
that you're sure you will treasure
forever,
its on a polaroid in your mind
full of smiles and open space
and the love in your life seems to
radiate from it
and glow like a perfect sunset

Letting go is the nirvana of our age
its that slow motion beat when you've lost yourself completely
and the sheer simple perfection
knocks you flat on your back
in the summer time grass
and you wish you could stop time at that exact minute
and live in it
smiling forever.
