A poem dealing with lost love, unwanted pregnancy and suicide
In darkness, a broken heart bleeds,
the soul releases silent tears.
At last, a mournful wail is heard
and the lonely heart beats no more.

In the Spring, she gave him her heart;
by Summer, he had taken more.
As Fall came, he found another.
In darkness, a broken heart bleeds.

She had no one to confide in,
no one would hear her sorry plight.
She learned a troubled lesson; that
the soul releases silent tears.

Alone, she found she was with child.
Alone, she would face her own fate.
Alone, she knew her fate was sealed.
At last, a mournful wail is heard.

She gathered all the strength she had
and plodded to the building's roof.
Alone, she hurled herself off the edge
and the lonely heart beats no more.
