Friend

In times of pain or tears, you comfort me
not with some hollow words; you share the pain.
When the dark clouds obscure, you help me see
the sun’s bright promise lies beyond the rain.

And though in moments of my own despair
I feel alone, abandoned by all hope,
your quiet presence reassures you’re there.
You offer me your strength to help me cope.

When the sun breaks through and my life is bright,
you’re always there to celebrate success
not just because I have endured the night;
you’re happy for the joy that I possess.

I see in each moment that we have shared
an act of love by showing that you cared.
