A sonnet dedicated to Maimaya and Rei from "Fist of the North Star"
Again, I awake from dreaming of you
And the life we could have shared together.
Your arm around my waist; your scent and blue
Hair surround me. Your black and blue leather
Is still stained in blood as you kiss my brow
And whisper goodbye and how sorry you
Are for dying. With a whisper you vow
To watch over me. Before you slip through
And leave me, I grab your arm and I plead,
“Please, please don't go for we just found this love!”
You grin and say, “I love you too, you freed
My heart of anger. Go, make me proud of
You by protecting our village I died for.”
I nod and let you go and away you soar.
