A Croatian Dreamscape

brief poem based on my recent holiday

This is a brief poem based on my recent trip away with my friend Jellyfish
....this trip now isn't quite so recent but just didn't get round to finishing it


A CROATIAN DREAMSCAPE

The peaceful sound of the sea lapping at the shore
Waking from my slumber could I ask for more
The wintry cold of England seems so far away,
as I peer out from my window on this enchanting sunny day

Wiping the sleep from my eyes until I am awake
I think Im going to like it here on this restful break
In no time at all I’m dressed and ready to explore
Thoughts of peaceful relaxing times come right to the fore

Lazy mornings and afternoons spent laying by the pool
Sun tan lotion, sun beds, clear blue water oh so cool
Glorious walks and boat trips, an occasional cup of char,
then spending nice cool evenings drinking in the bar

Two weeks hence, the only sound is the rain pouring down
That cheerful smile I had that day is replaced by a frown
As I daydream, work piles up, makes me want to scream
the holiday, that chance to escape seems just like a dream
