The dismissed feelings of being in the lgbtq community; struggling for equality.
Do I look human to you?
Would it surprise you if I told you that I had feelings too?
You're probably thinking no, she looks and sounds like a human.
Well, that's because I am. But did you know that you might have more rights than I do;
simply because I'm not meant to be with a man?
In school I was always taught that we were born with natural rights.
Some you gained with age, but never in my life,
had I thought there'd be exemptions.
I've seen freedoms take flight, but not to better society,
they've taken flight out of sight.
Rights have been revoked, actually they were never given.
Some people are permitted marriage and others are named a sin.
It's not just marriage that's been taken from me,
it's my dignity and mutual respect.
I guess I'm just waiting for ignorance to diminish
and common courtesy to take effect.
