Poetry of the Stars

Cosmos



Shades of black shift to purples

light from every star

         a marker of life

in some unknown universe



         strands of silver

guide the way

         through the darkness



one glimmer of hope

         of human life

                   of solidarity

strung across the arm of a

         constant spiral



who else knows of us -

         watches silently from a distant star?



waiting

         

stars die

         lighting their path to the grave

                   falling to  the depths of

         their unbeknownst hell



not unlike ourselves



we are not alone

the stars are with us

         they fall

                   we fall



our lights go out

         just as theirs



solidifying our fate with their own.
