100 word contest entry
Among ancient pillars of stardust and void, an enormous and time transcending distance from our beloved Earth, some poor man’s mind manifests in deep space:

“What is this? Where am I? What am I?”

There certainly won’t be any corporate chain fast food entering his body any time soon, or half listened blathering from his obnoxious roommates either.

“How did I get here?”

Scratch the inevitable drunken mess the office Christmas party would degrade to this year.

“What does this all mean? Is this death?”

He had just filed his taxes too.

“How pointless,” he thought, blindly smiling in starlight.
