Heading Down A Slippery Slope

Save your threats.

They slip and slide upon the slope
around their neck they place a rope
when disrespect comes out to play
when common sense is put away

when threats are spewed from open mouth
humanity in them goes south
and in their threats they do delight
ready to spread excessive spite

from coast-to-coast the thumpers dwell
they love to threaten us with Hell
and then blow kisses to their God
eternal torture thus they laud

they hold their Bibles high with pride
the human in them though has died
so smug and sure they point their nose
to where on high the jet stream flows

but threats I won’t condone at all
self-righteous monumental gall
the kindergarten minds on call
beat back the threats and you stand tall.

Recently I heard a well-known radio personality, a grown adult, threaten a woman who disagreed with him.
He actually shouted, “You will burn in Hell!”  Similarly, I have been threatened by someone in my own family,
which has caused a permanent rift.

All this illustrates the importance of education--it is the key to counter the poison of religious indoctrination.
