The only place you can feel contentment.
I left my peace in the woods.
In the slow breaths among the leaves.
In the ebb and flow of the trees.
Where the heartbeat is gentle,
old, forgiving, confidential.
They envelop all that is theirs.
Leave behind your human affairs.
You’re a child beneath the canopy,
amongst the ancient gentry.
Here, your purpose is being,
everyone else is busy living.
The seconds are drifting,
stop watching the time.
Breathe with the trees,
in this earthen shrine.
Within this cradle of grass,
in the warm arms of the sun.

I leave my peace in the woods
because there I will find it again.
