Being as good as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, or Jimi Hendrix. AABB 10 syl. per line
Gotta have that axe, just to play a scale,
Want to hear it sing; want to hear it wail!
Gotta have that axe, I want that guitar,
Just to play that axe, I know I'd go far.

It's like I'm starving, I got these cravings,
How much is it? Man that's my life savings!
Gotta have that axe, it's getting hazy,
I'd practice all night until I'm crazy.

Gotta have that axe, I just wanna play,
Want to learn a tune and play it all day.
Had to pawn my gun, but picked out my axe,
Got some picks and strap but my case has cracks.

Up on the stage; hope I don't get a cramp,
Need better acoustics- turn up my amp!
Look at the people; my knees start to knock,
That sounds better, now I'm ready to rock.

Let's start the first song; wait for the hooray!
Then right into another one, Okay?
Blisters on my fingers playing good licks,
Having a blast on stage, getting my kicks.

My songs at the top with a huge label,
Now my thinking has become more stable.
Touring the States then lay down some new tracks,
When the morning comes it's time to relax.

Tired of touring and being on the road,
Paid back everyone the money I owed.
Fell asleep with my guitar in my hands,
Dreaming of playing with the biggest bands.
