There was a couple madly in love
Their marriage was blessed by God above
It seemed nothing could tear them apart
Then something happened that broke each heart.

A huge gulf was placed between the two
The gulf was wide but he knew what to do
It took some time to work out his plan
To build a bridge the gulf to span.

He built that bridge using a cross
His own life he did not count a loss
You see the couple is God and man
Sin is the gulf the cross had to span.

On that cross was God's own Son
With His death sin came undone!
