| First we mow then we rake, Under a sweltering sun, we bake, For proper form, tree limbs we take, To groom our yards for our own sake. Without pruning, we all know, The yard will quickly overgrow, Then we shall reap what we did sow, Pests and varmints bringing woe. To keep nature well in check, To prevent homes that look a wreck, To ease the way for our daily trek, We break our backs and strain our necks. Many times I've wondered deep, Should I take to raising sheep, Then they could trim while I sleep, But they are illegal for us to keep. To the verdant foliage, I pray, Please, inside your boundaries stay, As I search for every way, To make your creeping vines obey.
