Mornings are uncluttered with the trappings of suburbia, such a delight
I like to see spring mornings
when it’s still quite dark outside,
day’s dawning gives a mighty thrill.
The promise of much warmer air
is there to smell and taste,
It’s hiding just behind that lofty hill.
I stand alone a while and shiver
in the cold left from the night,
maybe I should be sleeping still.
But I’ll linger for a little time
until the sun has risen high,
enough for the daylight to spill.
From above that tree clad hilltop
sunshine clears the night away
and wild birds begin their noisy trill.
Cars start driving past my home
the day’s now wide awake,
and workers all have jobs to fill.
The children make their way to school
parents start their busy day;
I put my breakfast on the grill.
With springtime now opened
I think of what I’d like to do,
and which dream could I fulfill.
