The proposal (300wds)

The four parents and two children sat in the booth awaiting their drinks while trying to decide what to order.

While the women were trying to decide what to order the men were engaged in serious negotiation on who was going to pay the check.

“Well if our delightful medians are going to order the menu you pay it ol’ boy.” Mario laughed his deep hearty laugh as he looked at Carlos who was just as animated.

“Ha ha ha!” Carlos laughed back. “Oh no, as the father of the bride it is your obligation to pay for the bill.”

Suddenly Neko looked to his dad with shock as he shook his head no. “No no no.” he said trying frantically to shush his dad. He was spoiling the surprise. He had not even asked Georgia yet.

“Father of the Bride?!” Georgia looked from the parents to Neko. “What is he talking about?”

“It was supposed to be a surprise.” Neko said thru clinched teeth looking first to his dad then back at her.

Knowing the cat was out of the bag it was now or never. He left his seat reached into his jacket pocket pulling out a velvet box and opened it as he kneeled on one knee.

“Georgia meeting you has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I have grown to love you more and more every single day. And I don’t see spending the rest of my life without you. Will you marry me?

“Yes!” She squealed as they both stood. After hugging Neko, he pulled the ring from the box and slipped it on her finger.

“Champagne here! She said Yes! We’re going to get married.”

Suddenly cheers erupted at the table as well as throughout the dining room.
