 Happily Ever after  (E)
A poem for a contest
#2064880 by Chris Breva

Happily ever after is a fairy tale dream
Death will come along and end every scheme
It is so sad but it is true
You can deny it if you wish to.

Happily ever after might last fifty years
After that it will end in a flood of tears
We all dream of ever lasting love
Yet we know it only exists above.

Happily never after would be closer to the fact
Death is for real and destroys any pact
So we always say "until death do we part"
We know that death will eventually break our heart.

It is not rude to state this simple truth
Talking about forever is so uncouth.
