DRAGON QUEST

We search for dragons
Mighty beasts
Noble fierce and strong.

Are they legends
Only myths
Luring us along

Our writer's dragons
Are the prey
We seek to find and tame

Mighty stories
Fiery prose
Poems that bear our name

Are stories dragons
Searching too
For just the proper hand

Words out wanting
To be born
Into the minds of man

To them are writers
Ghostly myths
Fantastic fairy tales

Creatures that
Can weave their words
Until a story sails

Do we seek
Each other out
Not sure where each exists

Story and writer
Try to touch
Each other in the mists

Like the knight
Whose dragon quest
Can only come with pain

The writer's quest
For words of gold
Means struggle for the gain

Perhaps the words
must struggle too
To touch the writer's mind

Searching seeking
In the dark
Til words and writer bind
