A poem about flight in nature
Flight

In celebration and homage
to flight in nature,
“Flight of the Bumble Bee”,
an orchestral interlude,
has thrilled generations.

Aerodynamic feats
which abound in nature,
amaze and intrigue man,
fueling his desire
for the ability to freely fly.

Can one doubt God’s Hand
in creation of nature,
when watching aligned V-formations
of migratory birds
navigating and communicating?

The call of the sea
attracts many, including the pelican,
a foraging diver,
with a magnificent wingspan of ten feet,
which, in mid-flight, can dive for fish.

During day, the whir of hummingbird wings
sounds like propellers of a mini-plane,
while at dusk,
chirps and clicks can be heard from bats
as they perform aerial dances.

From the meandering flight of
iridescent butterflies,
to the magnificent soaring
of eagles on high,
the flights of nature are gifts from God.
