A poem about a woman and her doppelganger
The Doppelganger

The woman feels the presence
of someone
with her.

Whoever it is
only communicates
with whispers.

Never seeing a face,
the woman only sees
a shadow.

*********

The presence with her
is foreboding
and menacing.

She wonders if this
could be
a lost twin.

Perhaps the presence
could be a
seventh sense.

*********

The whispers have
become
increasingly urgent.

The message is
always
the same.

“Kill her,
kill her”,
it whispers.

*********

The woman thinks
maybe she
is insane.

But nobody appears
to think she
is insane.

To be rid of this presence,
she knows she must
kill her.

*********

Hours later,
the woman’s family
finds her dead.
