An observer has the privilege of watching life lessons.
I sat quietly on the lake edge
under the stately old oak trees.
I looked out at one of the islands,
and what did I happen to see?
Mama Goose was standing
her beak pecking at the ground,
and around her feet there scurried
four feathery little mounds.
Feeding time soon ended
and Mama gave a call.
It was time for swimming lessons,
into the water went them all.
Papa Goose soon joined them,
all were swimming in a line.
Papa first, then Mama
and the four goslings trailed behind.
Once around the lake they swam,
and then back to the island nest.
The lessons were done for the afternoon.
It was time for goslings to rest.
