First beach day of the season ignites my soul
|For Love of the Sea (Blank Verse)
The crash of a wave is diminished, as it quietly crawls to shore.
White sea-foam melts from the heat of the mid-day sun.
Sand-pipers soar high then dive low in search of today’s menu.
Sea-gulls walk the beach leaving their clawed footprint behind.
A crab turned upside down desperately flailing to bring himself back.
Two very small individuals with pails digging and creating.
A summer day like no other. The heat making the sand unable to be walked on.
And yet, my heart hears a wordless tune that will not stop
My joy for being a part of this diorama at the beach.
My first visit of the season takes my breath away with excitement.
It is a testament to the words of John F Kennedy, “We are all tied to the ocean.”
I feel that yearning when I am away from the sea,
It does not subside till I am there with my feet firmly planted in wet sand.
This massive body holds my soul as its’s servant, and I remain forever in love with it
