Symphony of the Night
After the cleansing evening rain,
in glissando, rhythmically and loudly croak,
in an ancient mating call, and baptism,
as the percussion instruments in nature’s orchestra.
As day, in a metamorphosis, becomes dusk,
vibrate their underbellies, in praise,
in a melodic, musical triumph of ostinado,
as the string instruments of the symphony.
As dusk transforms into night,
perform angelic, aerial dances with clicks,
in an allegro tempo,
the woodwind instruments of the orchestra.
In the deep darkness of the woods,
howl in forlorn, dissonant music,
solemn hymns of minor keys and chords,
providing the sounds of brass instruments.
High in the tree tops,
hoot and coo in adagio, rhythmic notes,
in ancient Gregorian chants,
of nature’s night time symphony.
Look heavenward to see the maestro,
beyond the moon and the millions of stars,
listen to the music of God’s creatures,
in His gift, the grandioso symphony of the night.
