Summer simmers
Hot and humid
Pastes the clothes to my back
As I trek the trails
And push my step count to dizzying heights.

Virtually I have been all over Europe
From Spain to Italy
Into Germany and Holland
To France and the wonders of Paris
To England and the sights of London
All poised above my computer keyboard
Blogging into the heat of the day.

When I do the reality check
I pause and step out
Follow the trails along my own neighbourhood
Seeing it as a tourist would
With open eyes and interest
Wondering at the tiny and the small
Spending my meager money
On local faire
Smiling at those around me
Who continue in their day to day
Hoping I made a small difference
And made them feel happy too,

Soon school resumes
I pack my supply bag in anticipation
And wonder where I'll be
On that first supply day.
