Dealing With An Emotional Breakup
The road to life is sometimes found filled with many ups and downs,
We laugh, we cry; and sometimes fall; but I've learned how to stand up tall.
Some find love and it's returned. They're lucky, because what I've learned,
Is not to open up your heart cause' that's when all the heartaches start.

No matter what you have, they take. Your hopes, your dreams - they make you break;
And when you're all used up, they say: "I never loved you anyway."
You say I left and broke a vow but that's not true; I tell you now.....
You left me long before that day. You lied to me, I couldn't stay.

You see, I thought a friend could say what's on his mind; not run away.
Cowards run and leave behind the greatest friend they'll ever find.
You say I give up easily; but look at you; you run and flee
From everyone you've ever met. You haven't found the right one yet.

Worse than that, you put the blame on everybody else's name,
When I think you might be the one whose always said, "That's it, I'm done!"
And then you plan your great escape; what you'll leave, and what you'll take,
And like a phantom in the night, you see your chance and make your flight.

And one day, when you're gone, I pray. I ask, "Why me? Take me today.
I can't live here, this world's too cruel. Am I the worlds biggest fool?"
An answer came to me right then, and as I looked up once again,
I heard him say, "We all will pay, on that great, glorious, judgement day."

That's when I knew that I would mend, I thank you Lord for what you send,
Your love, your gifts, your healing hand. You've helped me once again to stand.
And now I know that losing you, was not the worst thing I could do.
The best for me is yet to come. This chapter of my life is done.

Never more will I give all to someone who will let me fall,
And walk away, and not look back, because it's they, not me who lack.
I know that what I gave was true, returning it was not in you.
And now I pity you, my friend; for you will lose out in the end.

I hope you find your lifelong dream, and throw away your lies and schemes
For only then will you find love. The kind that's sent from up above.
