He falls asleep and the mind wanders
I write this as you lay asleep
You icon on the bottom corner of my screen
Small, but shows just enough
So I know you’re safe
The song you wrote
Is on in the background on my computer
Playing ever so gently in my headphones
I can’t stop listening to it
It’s so
You.
I can’t sleep
Our conversation plays over and over
In the back of my head
I remember clearly
Of each timid smile
And the tinting of red in your cheeks
As we flirted like there was no tomorrow
Choosing words carefully
In a tone that is not usually there.
I like it.
I know you do too.
Too bad we cannot do anymore
Miles separating actions
And I know for a fact that I would do so much
Just to see a reaction.
Teasing always gives me a sense of control
In the best of ways
