Beatrice is the Director of Plan, Research & Statistics at Federal Ministry of Justice
Beatrice Jedy Agba (hails from Edo State, Nigeria) was born to the family of Dr. and Mrs. Eigbefoh. She is the second child and first daughter of family of 6 children. She attended Bola Memorial Primary school Ikeja between 1975 and 1980 and Federal Government Girls College Bida Niger State between 1980 and 1985.

As a young lady who has passion to stand for the rights of citizens and provide justice to the voiceless, she enrolled to study law in Bendel State University, Ekpoma and graduated in 1989. In 1990, she was called to Nigerian bar and proceeded to do her one year mandatory National Youth Service programme at National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, where she was retained as a prosecutor. She also worked at the Federal Ministry of Justice as Chief State Counsel, Department of International and Comparative Law in 2004 and the National Boundary Commission as Legal Adviser and Special Assistant to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice in 2010.

Her passion and commitment to combating human rights violations contributed to her appointment as the Director General of National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) by former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in September, 2011.

Following her appointment as the Director General of NAPTIP, she did institutional diagnosis, internal restructuring and staff empowerment which aided the agency to record more impact within 4 years.

She mobilized private institutions, community leaders, public sector, political leaders, policy makers, and other relevant stakeholders to engage them in promoting the fight against human trafficking. She strengthened partnership with NGOs and CSOs to stimulate more actions against trafficking in persons, Strengthened institutional framework for combating Human trafficking in Nigeria, and developed a strategic plan for the agency and improved her work.

She helped to deepen the understanding of millions of Nigerians on human trafficking which made NAPTIP to gain international commendation. She received presidential commendation for her work on improving the national coordination on trafficking. She was also honoured with Officer of the Order Niger (OON).

Currently, Bar. Beatrice Jedy-Agba is the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics at Federal Ministry of Justice.
