Submission for a motivational contest.
Dear me:

My motivation I’m setting for myself this year, I’m going to rewrite my first romance novel.

With that said, I should have my head examined!

Why ‘volunteer’ to rewrite something that is over 600,000 words, 1300 pages? I should know better, never ‘volunteer’ for anything.

Now I wish I diversified my reading years ago. Instead of reading Outdoor Life, Popular Mechanics or FMs (Field Manuals) I should have read the best sellers or popular books at the time.

No excuses, I read what I wanted to back then; Ernie Pyle, Dale Brown, Ken Follett, Tom Clancy and others.

Now I realized I should have read Barbara Cartland, Danielle Steel, or Jackie Collins.

Oh well, I still like those kinds of stories.

I should have learned how to type with all my fingers, not with just one index finger, live and learn. I never thought I wanted to write romance stories or anything back then.

I thought I wrote a great story. I just needed a few minor changes. Boy, was I wrong.

I’ve already started rewriting the first novel. I’ve removed a great number of paragraphs and whole pages, thinking that will make my novel more manageable, by being shorter.

But, with what I know now, I’ve been adding a lot more detail to the story.

In actually, I will most likely double the word count. Unless I remove a lot more parts to the story.

My dilemma is, should I continue or let it go, and not enter Dare me?

I haven’t even started to check for everything I learned on WDC to check for.

Knowing myself, I don’t like to quit once I start something.

What time line am I looking at?

Finish everything then go back and check for missing punctuation marks, spell checks which I know I’ve missed a few times, appropriate continuation of the story line, tear my hair out, opps already gone.

1) Complete the time for her student trip to Sault Ste. Marie. Already done.

2) Complete her Board of Education hearing and Rich staying over the weekend. Already started, complete by mid-February.

3) Complete Lisa’s trip to NYC and back to her home in Brantford. Start by April first.

4) Lisa returns to NYC. Start by Mid May.

5) Both return to Brantford, visitors from NY for the week. Start by July First.

6) See above about finishing everything. Start by Mid-September.

The second part I wrote will have to wait until another time, too long as it is.

I hope I will finish by New Year’s Eve, only eleven months to go.

See! What did I tell you, get your head examined!

I need a beer. Curses, don’t drink!

Word count: 450 words.
