The writing's on the wall

Picture a painting
Hanging there on the wall
You can decide
If it stays or falls
The scene is set
Within your mind
What would you do
If you could step inside?

The places and the faces
Will always seem strange
If you hide behind walls
And won't accept change
Ignore the politicians
Who cares what they think
We're dyed in the same wool
Just with different ink

It ain't hard to do
If me and you
Take a little time
Find a mutual rhyme
In this Human Race
We don't gotta compete
'Cause there ain't no prize
Waitin' at the finish line

Now imagine a world
Within that frame
Where people smile
And know your name
No bombs explode
Or fall from planes
And everybody signals
When changing lanes

That ain't the shape
Of the world today
It's a twisted thing
On the verge of decay
Children starving alone
Don't know the meaning of home
Is this the legacy
We all wanna own?

It ain't hard to do
If me and you
Take a little time
Find a mutual rhyme
In this Human Race
We don't gotta compete
'Cause there ain't no prize
Waitin' at the finish line

Picture a painting
Hanging there on the wall
You can decide
If it stays or falls
The future ain't set
It's yours to find
'Cause everybody pays
When we turn a blind eye
