#2111432 by Chris Breva

The Writer's Cramp prompt for February 8, 2017 is "A couple, married in 1984, celebrates their anniversary every year by going to a Diner. Write a story or poem (putting it in the Romance Genre) about their celebration."

14 Lines Eight syllables per line, abab, cdcd, efef, gg rhymes scheme, no meter inteneded

Married 33 years ago this year
She is still beautiful to him
In her heart he is always near
Only death could separate them.

Dinner at a diner all this time
Each year on this their wedding day
Tonight something with the spoon's chime
The necklace bought from the display.

She says then that he should not have
Though she knows it is not quite true
She is the wife that he should have
It is the least that he can do.

Married now for all these short years
Nineteen Eighty Four calms all fears.
