Love poetry remembering a deceased wife

Mellissa Lynn, My Wife
(1968-1988, KIA)

Tone-deaf musicians
In the key A
Playing by straight lines
The symphony of love
To echoes of stillness

The ultra-violet
Carried by the infra-red
Of blues
And reds
Of shades of grays
A painting
By the blind

A sculpture
Of the heart
In vaporous mist
A Valentine letter
Addressed to no one

Motion without direction
Numbers without a sum
Equations on a white board
Forever one plus one

To share intimate stillness
With the greater half of none
