Appalachian loss in haikus
Honeysuckle Mountains

Stones tell tales, whisper—
histories best forgotten.
Mountains forced silent.

Trees remember well,
honeysuckle climbing vines.
Beauty, death—balanced.

Mountains croon old songs,
hymns of resilience, faith.
Creatures to exploit.

Old land weeps its death.
Hollowed for black soot and stone.
Pain falls on deaf ears.
