Fourteen syllables each line
When I was so much younger, I learned that I could fly.
I knew no one would believe me, and didn't wonder why.
For some years I kept my secret, and then I told a few,
Those friends I loved and trusted, just to see what they would do.
Of course no one believed me, though each one of them was kind,
Perhaps they wondered privately, if I had lost my mind.
But with the winds beneath me, I'd spread wide my arms and soar,
Coat tails flapping wild about me as solid air did roar.
With an angels wings, I knew I would gravity defy.
When I was so much younger, I learned that I could fly.
