From humble beginnings to the place of leader. 32 Lines
The Song of Cadeyrn

Kathleen McNamara

Once in every generation
A special star does shine
From humble pink beginnings
Came a unicorn divine

Mocked by others for his shading
And clunky silver hooves
He tried his best to measure up
Despite his clumsy moves

His father kept his counsel
His mother hid her tears
They knew his present hardships
Would make him wise beyond his years

Fluffy curls on a baby’s head
Gave way to a flowing mane
The little pink nub upon his forehead
Grew to a horn of diamond fame

The Day of Choice was upon them
The young princess would soon decide
Which of these fantastical creatures
Would rule the kingdom by her side

In the confines of the forest
The unicorns did prance
They laughed at him and told him
He would never have a chance

Cadeyrn quietly stood his ground
Showing only strength and grace
He bowed his head in acceptance
When the princess touched his face

As he took his place beside her
The other unicorns did bow
The once soft and fluffy pink one
Would be their leader now
