Gone Fishin'
Under a clear Texas sky
all things possible
Is a brother-in-law same as a brother?
Question for an oracle
smarter than me

Under a volatile Texas sky
born in September
Lay you to rest one Houston May
Gone fishin' with your devoted clan of sailors
Most beloved patriarch

Under a summer sun, long ago
You once made chow-chow
peppered with questions, that Virginia July
Our intrepid chef, grandchild just born

Under a bright Texas morning
you sailed to meet your bride
The day before Mother's Day
Gone fishin' on the beckoning waves
Gulf waters or deep seas, matters not

Always sheltered by that Texas sky
most admired Captain in charge
Hope you catch what you're after
All the welcoming Texas days to come
Safe home, brother
Safe home.
