A poem about Sasquatch
The Cryptid

Once I travelled to
the state of Washington
and camped
in a Sasquatch Sanctuary.
Wearing my navy blue
“I believe…”
tee shirt,
newly purchased
from the souvenir shop,
stiff and starchy,
I peel off the price tag,
stick it toe head of the bed,
and settle in for the night.
Guarded by the behemoth forest,
as a blackness fell
that no city has ever known,
stars winking
through the darkened sunroof,
wearing quietness for a blanket,
warily I slept,
with one bleary eye
trained
on the locked
camper
door.

In 2017 Washing State makes a move to name Sasquatch as their official Cryptid.
