A poem describing my walk in the park |
Shadows In The Sunlight Strolling through the park one day The sun on my back smooth's away Stress as I watch shadows at play. The pine and oak trees stand tall Showing off lacy patterns to enthrall. The dark and lights together intertwine Giving me comfort, and I'm on cloud nine; An experience that offers a different feel To see these shadow images so surreal. I open my mind to new sights and sounds; The water fountain ahead, a sight to astound. Its spectacular spray cascades high in the air Splashing down, the drops glisten with fanfare. I stroll to a park bench, my shadow leads the way To watch the squirrels scurry, peek, and play. I cross the velvet lawn in a bare feet ballet Feeling alive once again, like a child at play. I walk along the meandering river bank edge, And chance a peek at my reflection to pledge, To take more nature walks and look around me, And to take time out to enjoy what surrounds me. I gather myself as a feeling of melancholy Comes over me, a brisk breeze guides me To a sunset so lovely, it lights up the western sky I brush pass a Wisteria tree, sending its scent All around me, I smile and welcome the night. 26 lines |
