Another nod to T.S. Eliot
I have heard that mermaids sing rejoices
In a forlorn cove's spray spaces
With smiles on their angelic faces
And paprika in their dulcet voices

I have seen the glowing, knowing eyes
And rods & cones & coaxing they display
Oaths of scandal & salvation never made
And cursed them in my stingy sighs

I have known the braceleted arms
Wrapping neatly with seductive danger
Around every Tom & Dick & stranger
Until the bracelets lost their charms

I do not suppose the mermaids will sing for me
Though not for want to drift into the sea
